What goes into an out-the-door price

• Vehicle price (after any discount), minus trade-in and rebates.
• Sales tax: many states tax only the price minus your trade-in; some tax vehicles under separate rules. Check your DMV.

• Title and registration: government fees, at your state's actual rates.
